Aurora Expeditions welcomed its newest ship, the Sylvia Earle, to the fleet. The ship will embark on its inaugural voyage from Ushuaia, Argentina to Antarctica on December 10.

“We are beyond thrilled to announce our newest ship, Sylvia Earle, is in the water and on her way to Antarctica,” said Michael Heath, Aurora’s CEO. “We cannot wait to introduce her to our loyal trade and consumer partners worldwide and, of course, a new generation of global expeditioners in search of adventure, discovery and extraordinary life-changing experiences.”

A sister ship to the Greg Mortimer, which launched in 2019, the 132-passenger vessel is named after renowned marine biologist, oceanographer, explorer and conservationist Dr. Sylvia Earle. It features the Ulstein X-BOW inverted bow design that enables it to glide smoothly and quickly through the water.

Onboard, guests will find multiple restaurants and bars, social relaxation and wellness areas, an outdoor heated swimming pool and Jacuzzis, spa and sauna, a library lounge, lecture hall and panoramic outdoor decks. Daily activities include Zodiac cruising, hikes, sea kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, paddling, skiing, photography and birdwatching.
