Norwegian Cruise Line has chosen two-time Emmy Award-winning actor, Eric Stonestreet, as godfather of its newest ship Norwegian Aqua, launching in April in 2025.

Known for his role as Cameron Tucker on “Modern Family,” Stonestreet “brings joy to audiences through his humor,” the cruise line said in its announcement. “Similarly, NCL brings joy to its guests with the variety of elevated experiences that empower guests to have their own best vacation…”

Stonestreet will welcome the ship to NCL’s fleet on April 13, 2025 in Miami, where he will lead the tradition of naming the vessel.

After completing its inaugural voyage, Norwegian Aqua will depart on seven-day itineraries from Port Canaveral, beginning April 26, 2025. Following its first season of Caribbean sailings, the ship will operate five- and seven-day voyages to Bermuda from New York City from Aug. to Oct. 2025, and from May 2026 to Oct. 2026. Norwegian Aqua will return to Miami to sail five- and seven-day Eastern Caribbean itineraries from Oct. 2025 through April 2026, and from Nov. 2026 to March 2027.

“We are very excited to officially welcome Eric Stonestreet to the NCL team,” said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. “We had an amazing time with Eric on one of our ships, and also got to spend some time with his charming family after. Over the past couple of months, Eric has become a true friend of NCL. Eric’s authenticity, wit, charm and genuine desire to bring happiness to the masses embodies the role of godfather for Norwegian Aqua, as well as who we are and what we stand for as a company.”

“Traveling the world to meet new people and explore new places is something I love to do, and after recently experiencing what Norwegian has to offer, I can attest that Norwegian truly makes it easy to do more of what I enjoy while on vacation,” Stonestreet said.

As the first ship in NCL’s Prima Plus Class, Norwegian Aqua will feature even more amenities and experiences, including the all-new Aqua Slidecoaster, a first-of-its-kind hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide.
