Tips for promoting a Travel Blog

Travel Blog Promotion Blog

Travel Blog PromotionGetting your Travel Blog seen can be a challenge, but can also be very rewarding.  Here are some tips to help promote your blog.

Get links to your travel blog

Incoming links will boost your rankings in google.  Try to target a particular keyword people may use to find your blog, such as "mauritius travel", and use this as the anchor text for some links. Some ways to get incoming keyword links are:

  • Through social bookmark sites such as Folkd, propeller, snipsly etc.  Try to have your keyword in the title of the bookmark, as this will form the anchor text.  Bookmark your new blogposts on several different social bookmark sites.
  • Through niche directories.  Submit your site to niche travel blog directories, such as wetravel2.org. These will give you a backlink from a related site.
  • Blog Comments. Comment on other travel blogs, build up a community of fellow travel bloggers.  Once you become familiar with each other, you can do things like guest posts on each others blogs in exhange for a link, and drive traffic between each others blogs.  You can find lots of potential blogging partners at our own wetravel2.org travel directory. (shameless plug, we know!!).

The best way to build links is to keep it up regularly, it is better to do a few links a week every week than 100 at once, then none at all for months.  And have patience, it takes time for the search engines to pick up links.

And of course, write interesting content that people will want to link to naturallly.

But don't forget one thing: Posting comments only to get a backlink is not really welcome in blogs! Spam is horrible!

You are quite right STraveller, you should not leave Spam comments, you should join the conversation on the blog. If you add value to the post with your comment, it will be more likely to get published, and you can get some human traffic to your site.

@BigJohnBen: Yes, I think the same way. But the discussion in blogs is sometimes not so easy - e.g. when it's not possible to subscribe for a notification of new comments. Would be also great here :-)

STraveller, you can indeed subscribe to a notification of new comments, just check the "notify me of follow-up comments" box!

Oh... I am sorry. I don't know why, but I didn't see the check-box *oops*.

Of course I will check it ;-)

Happy new Year!

Resorts could also request that you just re-use your towels instead of having them laundered every single day.

Nice post!!! The blog nourishes as well as describes about the various ways to promoting one's travel blog. This could well increase the visibility of the travel blog on Search Engine Result Pages(SERPs). While I was briefly questioning about travelling trips for Thailand to one of my friends last weekend, I began recalling one of my best trips in my life. It was a sunny day when I had got along with my five friends to a Lodge, being Karen Hill Tribe Lodge( http://www.karenhilltribelodge.com/ ). It is situated in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and is a beautiful place to visit. The hill environment around had been quite tremendous. And one of the things that stands out is the food offered, which was quite delicious.
