Do not listen to everything google says

Travel Blog Promotion Blog

Reading the optimization guidelines in Google webmaster tools, you would be forgiven for thinking that the most important part of SEO is creating great content. According to Google, create amazing content, and people will visit your site, and link to it. This, however, is blatantly untrue these days. Once upon a time, it may have been the case, but these days, people are more reluctant to link out to a good resource, and many that do use the nofollow tag.

So why does google tell us this? Well, if they said links are the most important part of SEO (which they are, by the way), webmasters would focus on getting links instead of creating content, and the internet would quickly fill up with crap, diluting the search results and creating poor quality results for the user, which is bad for google as people would switch to other search engines which would affect google´s bottom line. They are a business after all, and have their own interests to take care of. So they tell us to just concentrate on content and forget about links.

So should you stop writing good content and go hunting links? Of course not, good content is important, but you should be aware of the importance of linkbuilding so that people find your content.
