Maximise responses when asking for content exchanges

Travel Blog Promotion Blog

There has been a lot of talk in the blogosphere recently about content exchanges. This is where you write content for another website, in return for a link back in the body text (everybody knows a link back from a block of text is much better for SEO than a footer link, or worse still, a links page link.

I have had lots of emails from people who have sent out hundreds of emails and had no replies at all. So how do you maximise the response rate for your content exchange campaign?

Well, here is a great tip: search for link exchange sites. These are websites where you sign up if you are looking for plain old link exchanges. These are literally a gold mine! You do not need to sign up with them, just go to the apropriate category, visit the sites and look for a webmaster email, then email them with your content exchange proposal.

Why does this work so well? The sites that have signed up for link exchanges are actively looking to develop relationships with other sites for linkbuilding purposes, so are much more likely to be responsive to your offers. Also, what you are offering holds much more value for them than a simple link exchange.
