I promote a lot of different sites, and use social bookmarking sites as part of a strategy to get the content posted seen. The idea with these sites is you connect with other bloggers/site owners, develop relationship and help to promote each other´s content by linking to it, or voting for it on the bookmarking sites so it gets more visibility, more traffic and more link juice.

The vast majority of people on these bookmarking sites are writing about making money online by blogging. Your blogs are all about how to promote your blog, get traffic to your blog, monetise your blog. You all seem to have read sites like problogger.com and rehashed the advice on your own blogs. You all have the "right" wordpress theme, the current hot widgets, you are all trying to get readers on your mailing list so you can sell them an ebook on making money online youcopied wrote.

Where you are going wrong

Problem 1- Monetisation is either by advertising, and using programs like adsense. If your audience is internet marketers and bloggers, they are the least likely person to click your ads and buy something, because they are trying to do the same thing. If you are lucky, you may sell an ebook to the odd noob, or get a few clicks on your adsense, but this is a long way from the thousands of dollars a month you were expecting.

Problem 2- You are all doing the exact same thing. You are all writing on the same topics, in the same way. You are not saying anything new, or particularly useful. You are preaching to the converted. There is no diversity.

If you can identify yourself with any of this, maybe a change of direction is needed. Why do you have to blog about blogging? Why not blog about roller-skating or stereo systems or bicycles, or whatever? Why are you all blogging about blogging? This seems rather stupid.

I know what you are thinking: Isn´t this exactly what I am doing on this site? Well, yes. But this is just one of my blogs, and the only one I blog about blogging/site promotion. The rest of the sites I work on are across a broad variety of topics. I blog about techniques I have used across my network, what works FROM MY EXPERIENCE and what doesn´t. So there. But seriously, some people cannot see the wood from the trees. You can write about any subject under the sun, and you choose to blog ABOUT making money instead of bloggin TO make money.
